The United Nations Association-USA/Hawaii Island Chapter had a demonstration Sunday concerning climate change at the Wailoa Bridge near Suisan in Hilo. Hilo joined cities around the world organizing marches and demonstrations in support of the Peoples Climate March in New York City.

The United Nations Association-USA/Hawaii Island Chapter had a demonstration Sunday concerning climate change at the Wailoa Bridge near Suisan in Hilo. Hilo joined cities around the world organizing marches and demonstrations in support of the Peoples Climate March in New York City.

The goal is to express the need for action now to drastically reduce greenhouse gas emissions that result in global warming.

This week, world leaders are coming to New York City for a U.N. summit about the climate crisis.

More than 1,400 businesses, unions, faith groups, schools, social justice groups, environmental groups and others took part in 350.org’s People’s Climate March on Sunday in New York.

Hilo signs expressed the need for action now.
